You Are A Launch-pad For Change.

Jesus & ZacchaeusImage by Martin LaBar (going on hiatus) via Flickr
The idea above is basic Bible in that 'You, while in a good state (my soul), out of the good treasure of your heart bring forth that which is good; and you, in an evil state, out of the evil treasure of your heart bring forth that which is evil: for from the abundance of your heart your mouth speaks'. [...]

You, my soul, as a living epistle (read of all men), a potential walking bible; have as your underlying strength the power to change; and therefore, you are the launch-pad for change itself. [...]

'For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of your soul and spirit, and of your joints and marrow, and is a discerner of your thoughts and intents of your heart. [...]

No one, except the Lord, for it is written, 'I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins'. [...]

You are only responsible for your part in living at peace with others. [...]

Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; Fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. [...]

Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom you have to do'. [...]

A little different perspective here than in the old rock lyrics, "I just stopped in to see what condition my condition was in"; although the mnemonic is of value. [...]

The way chosen by loved ones is a formidable burden for you (my soul), however 'you are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. [...]

1st John 1:9 is gaining strength every day because you comprehend that promise more than when you first began, 'If you confess your sins, he is faithful and just to forgive you of your sins, and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness'.

You Are A Living Letter, A Walking Bible.

Jesus is back !
You Are A Living Letter, A Walking Bible.

Listen my soul, Jesus Christ is the center of what God intends for you, center on Him and you will change in the way of becoming a walking bible; with you as a living book read from the inside out. [...]

'This is the record, that God has given to you eternal life, and this life is in His Son'. [...]

'If a man be overtaken in a fault, you which are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. [...]

For He-in-me says unto you, 'He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life'. [...]

Also, 'He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him'. [...]

Well, prayer of course, an unbroken stream of it is vital to you; a living book - 'read of all men'. [...]

For with me, the heart, man believeth unto righteousness; and with you, the mouth, confession is made unto salvation. [...]

You are a walking record that 'the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord'. [...]

'For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourself: it is the gift of God: Not of works, so you cannot possibly boast. [...]

For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek (or anyone): for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon Him.

Mount Shasta, Science, Philosophy, and Life.

Aerial photo of Mount Shasta taken while flyin...Image via Wikipedia
'One Thing Leads to Another' or 'How to Study Anything Starting Anywhere?'. My starting point could be Mount Shasta for example, which dominated my childhood environment. The 50 plus underlined links below contain a staggering amount of information and knowledge. And yet for every link selected at any given moment, 50 other links are bypassed (have you ever felt the frustration of that?). Nevertheless there is always a set of re-occurring subjects; in the example below it is science, philosophy, and sovereignty. This is a learning experiment concerning knowledge acquired by way of something of interest. Feel free to follow any leads of interest - or not.

Mount Shasta is located in Siskiyou County (Úytaahkoo in Karuk or "White Mountain").

Karuk is a language of northwestern California.

Language death is a process that affects communities where the level of competence that speakers possess is decreased - In linguistics.

Linguistics is the scientific study of natural language.

Science refers to any systematic practice that is capable of resulting in a predictable type of outcome (from the Latin scientia, meaning "knowledge") .

Latin is an Italic language originally spoken in Latium and Ancient Rome.
Originally spoken there perhaps, but not the original language of Ancient Rome. But this is not the place to challenge the challenge-able history of the Western world, so let's return to the original subject - Mount Shasta.

Mount Shasta is located in Siskiyou County.

Siskiyou County (pronounced SISS-kyoo) is a county located in the far northernmost part of the state of California.

A county is a land area of local government within a country.

Here is a list of the sovereign states and dependent territories of the world.

A sovereign state is a political association with effective internal and external sovereignty.

Sovereignty is the quality of having supreme, independent authority over a territory.
As you can see from the above link on sovereignty, although a vast and controversial subject - the ultimate conclusion will be in true philosophy and Theology, so let's return to the original subject - Mount Shasta.

Mount Shasta is the second highest peak in the Cascades.

The Cascade Range is a major mountain range of western North America.

A mountain range is a chain of a mountains bordered by highlands or separated from other mountains by valleys.

A mountain is a large landform that stretches above the surrounding land in a limited area usually in the form of a peak.

A landform comprises of a geomorphological unit, and is largely defined by its surface form and location in the landscape - in the earth sciences.

Earth science is an all-embracing term for the sciences related to the planet Earth.

And so we are back to science.
Science refers to any system and practice that is capable of resulting in a predictable type of outcome (from the Latin scientia, meaning "knowledge") .

System is a set of interacting entities forming an integrated whole (from Latin systēma, in turn from Greek σύστημα systēma).

Greek - an independent branch of the Indo-European family of languages, is the language of the Greeks.

The Indo-European languages are a family of several hundred related languages and dialects.

A language family is a group of languages related by descent from a common ancestor.

A language is a system for encoding and decoding information.

Information as a concept has a diversity of meanings, from everyday usage to technical settings.

A concept is a set phrase that denotes a concept as understood.

A set phrase is a phrase whose parts are fixed.

A phrase is a group of words functioning as a single unit in the syntax of a sentence - In grammar.

Grammar refers to the logical and structural rules that govern the composition of sentences, phrases, and words in any given natural language - In linguistics.

And so, we are back to Linguistics.
Linguistics is the scientific study of natural language.

A natural language is any language which arises in an unpremeditated fashion - in the philosophy of language. (This statement excludes a consideration of God).

Philosophy of language is the inquiry into the nature, origins, and usage of language.

Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems concerning matters such as existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. (Philosophy literally means 'the love of wisdom', but the Western World and especially the secular scholastic view only accepts the ratio (rational) aspect of man's mind).

This is evident by their next statement about philosophy - "Philosophy is distinguished from other ways of addressing these questions (such as mysticism or mythology) by its critical, generally systematic approach and its reliance on reasoned argument.
Notice that mysticism and mythology are considered similar as used above. They are not similar. Mysticism comes from mystery and has to do with any thing that involves the grace (uncreated power) of God. Mythology is literally the study of myth.

Mysticism (from the Greek μυστικός, mystikos, an initiate of a mystery...
Caution with this article - although there is a lot of information and links here - it is written by someone who is completely ignorant of true Christianity. The true spirituality of Christianity from the beginning stands in complete contrast to the spirituality of the other religions of men - so let's return to the original subject - Mount Shasta.

Mount Shasta is 14,179 feet high and the fifth highest peak in California.
Mount Shasta is a fourteener - a mountain that exceeds 14,000 feet above sea level - in mountaineering terms in the United States.

Mountaineering is the sport, hobby or profession of walking, hiking, backpacking and climbing mountains.

Sport is an activity that is governed by a set of rules and often engaged in competitively.

The regulation of sport is usually done by a regulatory agency for each sport, resulting in a core of relatively invariant, agreed rules.

A regulatory agency is a public authority or government agency responsible for exercising authority over some area of human activity.

A public-benefit corporation is a public corporation chartered by a state designed to perform some public benefit.

Public, is of or pertaining to the people; relating to, or affecting, a nation, state, or community; opposed to private.

The private sector is that part of the economy which is both run for private profit and is not controlled by the state - in economics.

Economics is the social science that studies the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services.

The social sciences are the fields of scientific knowledge and academic scholarship that study social groups and, more generally, human society.

And so we are back to science.
Science refers to any system and practice that is capable of resulting in a predictable type of outcome (from the Latin scientia, meaning "knowledge") .
so let's return to the original subject - Mount Shasta.

Mount Shasta is 14,179 feet high and the fifth highest peak in California.

California is the most populous state in the United States, and the third largest by area.

Here is a list of U.S. states by population.

A U.S. state is any one of 50 federated states of the United States of America that share sovereignty with the federal government (four states use the official title of commonwealth rather than state).

A federated state, commonly simply referred to as a state, is a territorial and constitutional community forming part of a federal union.

A territory (from the word 'terra', meaning 'land') is a defined area (including land and waters), considered to be a possession of a person, organization, institution, animal, state or country subdivision.

Country subdivision refers to the division of a sovereign state's territory for the sake of its administration, description or other such purpose.

And  so we are back to sovereign state.

Mount Shasta has an estimated volume of 108 cubic miles which makes it the most voluminous stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc.

A stratovolcano, sometimes called a composite volcano, is a tall, conical volcano with many layers (strata) of hardened lava, tephra, and volcanic ash.

Volcanic cones are among the simplest volcanic formations in the world.

A volcano is an opening, or rupture, in a planet's surface or crust, which allows hot magma, ash and gases to escape from below the surface.

A crust is the outermost solid shell of a rocky planet or moon, which is chemically distinct from the underlying mantle - in geology.

Geology is the science and study of the solid and liquid matter that constitutes the Earth.

And so we are back to science.
Science refers to any system and practice that is capable of resulting in a predictable type of outcome (from the Latin scientia, meaning "knowledge") .
So let's return to the original subject - Mount Shasta.

Mount Shasta is in the Cascade Volcanic Arc.

The Cascade Volcanoes are a number of volcanoes in a volcanic arc in western North America.

A volcanic arc is a chain of volcanic islands or mountains formed by plate tectonics.

Plate tectonics is a theory which describes the large scale motions of Earth's lithosphere.

The term theory has two broad sets of meanings, one used in the empirical sciences (both natural and social) and the other used in philosophy, mathematics, logic, and across other fields in the humanities.
Notice that Theology is supposed by definition to not be empirical? Why? Modern man does not realize that many men have been transformed to the point that their transfiguration renders spiritual things empirical - for their observation through their senses have been extended. This is the testimony we have from various Church fathers and saints.

What follows is an attempt to describe how the term theory is used, not to try to say how it ought to be used.

The is-ought problem (also known as Hume's guillotine) was articulated by David Hume, who noted that many writers make claims about what ought to be, on the basis of statements about what is - in meta-ehtics.

Meta-ethics is the branch of ethics that seeks to understand the nature of ethical properties, and ethical statements, attitudes, and judgments - in philosophy.

And so we are back to philosophy.
So let's return to the original subject - Mount Shasta.

Mount Shasta and its surrounding area are managed by the U.S. Forest Service.

The Shasta-Trinity National Forest is the largest National Forest in California.

United States National Forest is a classification of federal lands in the United States.

Federal lands are lands in the United States for which ownership is claimed by the U.S. Federal Government.

The United States of America is a federal constitutional republic comprising fifty states and a federal district.

A federal government is the common government of a federation.

A federation (Latin: foedus, foederis, 'covenant'), also known as a federal state, is a type of sovereign state characterized by a union.
And with that we are back to the subject of sovereignty again, so let's return to the original subject - Mount Shasta.
